Territories

The MMC Territories feature is a paid, add-on tool - if you would like to learn more about adding this feature to your MMC instance, please fill out this form. 

With Map My Customers, you can define and assign Territories consisting of the Companies, People and Deal records you would like to visualize and share with team members.

Currently, you can only create Territories from the Web Map, however, you can layer and view existing territories created via Draw Mode from Map Layers on mobile.

There are three ways to create a Territory in MMC:

1. Smart Builder
2. Draw Mode
3. Import Territory Data 

To create a Territory via Smart Builder: 

1. Click on "Map" from the Main Navigation Menu
2. Click on the “Territories” button from the Map Navigation on the left side of the Map
   
   
   
   
3. Click on the “Add Territory” button in the top right corner of the pop-up 
4. Select “Map My Customers Territory Builder” from the “How do you want to Create Territories?” pop up and select the blue Next button in the bottom right
   
   

5. Select “Smart Builder” from the Select Mode options and elect which country you will build territories in (US, UK, Australia or Canada) as well the size of the boundaries (ex: Postal Codes, Counties, States / Provinces)
   • Note: When building in a smaller measurement such as a Postal Code - you can work in larger measurements such as County but when building in a larger measurement such as State you can not narrow down to County or Postal Code. It is recommended to build in the smallest measurement that may be required 
6. Click “Start Building” in the bottom right corner
7. Enter the name for your Territory in the side panel that appears on the right 
8. Choose a color and opacity that the territory will appear on the map. Use the “​​Share with" button to share this territory with Team Member(s) right from the creation panel: 

9. Zoom into the area of the Map where you would like to start building your territory. As you zoom, the Map will break down into the appropriate segmentation (Postal Codes, County or State) based on your initial section as well as your zoom level
   • Tip: Toggling off the Company, People, and Deal records using the icons in the top left can be helpful during Territory building 

10. Using the map, click the postal code, counties or states you would like to add to your Territory. To deselect an area, click once more on the area you would like to remove. 
    • Alternatively, use the list view in the right side panel to search and select specific states, counties or postal codes
      
      
11. Select the blue “Create Territory” button on the right side panel to complete creation of your new territory.

To create a Territory via Draw Mode: 

1. Click on "Map" from the Main Navigation Menu
2. Click on the “Territories” button from the Map Navigation on the left side of the Map
   
   
   
   
3. Click on the “Add Territory” button in the top right corner of the pop-up 
4. Select “Map My Customers Territory Builder” from the “How do you want to Create Territories?” pop up and select the blue Next button in the bottom right
   
   
5. Select “Draw Mode” from the Select Mode options and click “Start Building” in the bottom right corner
6. Enter the name for your Territory in the side panel that appears on the right 
7. Choose a color and opacity that the territory will appear on the map.Use the “​​Share with" button to share this territory with Team Member(s) right from the creation panel:
8. On the map, use your cursor to click the map and start dropping pins to create the territory bounds. As you drop pins, the Territory boundary lines are established. Double-click or click the first vertex to close the polygon.
   
   
   
   
9. Select the blue “Create Territory” button on the right side panel to complete creation of your new territory.

To create a Territory via Import: 

1. Click on "Map" from the Main Navigation Menu
2. Click on the “Territories” button from the Map Navigation on the left side of the Map
   
   
   
   
3. Click on the “Add Territory” button in the top right corner of the pop-up 
4. Select “Import from Spreadsheet” from the “How do you want to Create Territories?” pop up and select the blue Next button in the bottom right

5. Select how you will delineate the Territory using the “Select Area Type” dropdown options and elect which country you will build territories in (US, UK, Australia or Canada) as well the size of the boundaries (ex: Postal Codes, Counties, States / Provinces)
6. Download the Sample File to learn more about formatting Territory information for import 
7. Upload the data file you would like to import and select the blue “Next” button in the bottom right corner
   
   
   
8. Review the Territories that will be created via the Import, make selections about the Territory color and choose an assignee if desired. Select “Import” to start the import process
   
   
   
   
9. Do not close the window while the import is processing. A time estimate will be provided in the bottom right corner of the page. As the Territories are created, the row will highlight and be checked off.
   
   
   
   
10. Upon completion, a pop up window will appear letting you know the import is complete. Return to the map to see your newly created Territories

To view existing Territories on the Map

1. Click on "Map" from the Main Navigation Menu
2. Click on the “Territories” button from the Map Menu on the left side of the Map
   
   
   
   
3. Toggle on “Territories”. Any previously created Territories will now appear on the Map 

To view a specific Territory:

1. Click on "Map" from the Main Navigation Menu
2. Click on the “Territories” button from the Map Navigation on the left side of the Map
3. Select the Territory you would like to open from the pop-up. The Territory will appear on the Map and the List View of records in this Territory will appear in the right side panel.

To edit a specific Territory:

1. Navigate to the Territory you would like to edit using the “View a specific Territory” directions above
2. On the right side panel, select the ellipses (three dots) button in the upper right corner
   
   
3. Use the right-side panel to edit the Territory Name, Color / Opacity or sharing of the Territory

If the territory was created via Smart Builder: 

4. Select "Edit Territory Bounds" from the menu and click on additional regions that you would like to add to the Territory. Click on a highlighted region to remove this selection from the Territory.
5. Make or deselect any regions from the list view as applicable 

If the territory was created via Shape Mode:

6. Select "Edit Territory Bounds" from the menu and put the cursor in the center of the Territory on the Map to grab and move the entire polygon
7. Edit territory bounds by selecting a vertex of the polygon and dragging it to the new desired location 
8. Right-click on vertex to delete from the Territory bounds 

To delete a specific Territory:

1. Navigate to the Territory you would like to edit using the “View a specific Territory” directions above
2. On the right side panel, select the ellipses (three dots) button in the upper right corner
3. Click the “Delete Territory” button and confirm that you would like to complete the deletion
