Pin Settings and Color Key

Pin Settings allow you to make decisions about how you would like to visualize data on the MMC Map view. Pin Settings includes the customization of the color, shape, and size of the pins.

To Access Pin Settings:

1. Select "Map" from the Navigation Bar
2. Click on Pin Settings in the left-side navigation bar 

To update Pin size:

1. In the Pin Settings menu, use the “Select pin size” toggle to choose Small or Large pins on the map 

To update Pin icons:

1. In the Pin Settings menu, use the “Show icons for Companies, People, and Deals?” toggle to choose to show or hide the icons within the records 

To change Pin colorization view on the map:

Note: Setting the Pin Colorization does not change the individual pin color assigned to the record - it merely changes the color rule being applied to the Map at that given moment 

1. In the Pin Settings menu, determine which object you would like to edit the pin colorization rule of - Companies, People or Deals
2. Click the “Set pin color” dropdown under the respective object to change the Color Legend being applied 

Standard Colorization options include:

• Pin Color - The color of the Company or Person assigned at the individual record level 
  • For the Deals object, this is reflected as the Deal Stage Color 
  • Note: Pin Color is legacy functionality that may not be present in all MMC accounts at this time 
• Group - The color assigned to the Group that the record is a part of (This is dependent on using the Group functionality)
  
   
• Frequency Status - Red, Yellow or Green colorization dependent on the Frequency Status of a record (This is dependent on using the Frequency functionality)
  
  
• Last Contact - A color scale ranging from dark to light depending on the # of days since the last Activity has been logged
  
  

Selecting one of the Colorization options from the dropdown will automatically apply this Color Legend to the Map 

Click the Pin Settings icon once more to hide the pop-up and view your updated colored records on the Map 

To create custom Pin colorization views on the map:

1. In the Pin Settings menu, determine which object you would like to create the pin colorization rule for - Companies, People, or Deals
2. Click the “Set pin color” dropdown under the respective object to change the Color Legend being applied 
3. Select the “Create Custom” option to start creating a new Custom Color Legend based on a field of your choice
   
   Note: By default, this functionality is only available to Team Admins. Team Admins can choose to provide access to Team Managers and/or Team Members within Settings
   
   
4. A New Color Legend side panel will appear on the right side of the screen
   
   
   
   
5. Give the new Color Legend a name, confirm which entity the Color Legend is for, and select which field will drive the colorization of the pins
   
   Currently, Color Legends can only be created from dropdown fields or numeric/monetary fields
   
   Dropdown Fields: Custom Color Legends for a dropdown field will allow you to choose an individual color for an option in the picklist as well as a color if the value of this field is unknown
   
   
   
   Numeric / Monetary Fields: Custom Color Legends for a Numeric / Monetary field will create a color gradient for pins depending on the minimum and maximum value in this field - the theme here can be customized to be red, blue, or green
   
   
6. Select a visibility option from the “Visible To” dropdown menu and select
   
   Only Me - Only the creator can view and apply this color legend
   Specific Teams - Only elected Teams can view and apply this color legend
   Entire Organization - Any user in your organization can view and apply this color legend
   
   
7. Select the blue “Create” button in the bottom right corner to save the creation of this new color legend. The newly created color legend will automatically be applied to the map. Follow the “To change Pin colorization view on the map” instructions above to choose a different colorization. 

To change Pin shape view on the map:

1. In the Pin Settings menu, determine which object you would like to edit the pin shape rule of - Companies, People, or Deals
2. Click the “Set pin shape” dropdown under the respective object to change the Shape Legend being applied
   
   
   Standard Shape options include:
   
   Frequency Status - Different shapes will appear dependent on the Frequency Status of a record (This is dependent on using the Frequency functionality)
   
   
   Single Shape - All pins will appear in the selected shape on the Map. Shape options include Bookmark, Circle, Flag, Heart, Hexagon, Pin, Square, Star, Triangle
   
   

Selecting one of the Shape options from the dropdown will automatically apply this Shape Legend onto the Map 

Click the Pin Settings icon once more to hide the pop up and view your updated record shapes on the Map 

To create custom Pin shape views on the map:

1. In the Pin Settings menu, determine which object you would like to create the pin shape rule for - Companies, People or Deals
2. Click the “Set shape” dropdown under the respective object to change the Shape Legend being applied

7. Select the blue “Create” button in the bottom right corner to save the creation of this new Shape Legend. The newly created shape legend will automatically be applied to the map. Follow the “To change Pin shape view on the map” instructions above to choose a different pin shape rule.

To view Color or Shape key on Map: 

The Color and/or Shape key will quickly allow you or your team members to reference what each Color / Shape is representing on the Web Map. 

Keys are accessible in the lower left corner of the Web Map page

Click the respective Color Key or Shape Key icon to open these keys: 

Use the entity tabs to switch between the Company, People, or Deal Color / Shape Keys 

To edit custom pin Color or Shape Legends:

1. In the Pin Settings menu, click the “Set color” or “Set shape” dropdown under the respective object of the Legend you would like to edit
2. Hover over the Legend you would like to edit - click the blue edit pencil that appears on the right side of the row
   
   
3. The respective Legend will open in a side panel on the right side of the screen.
4. Make edits to the Color / Shape customizations as you see fit. Fields that cannot be edited after creation will be grayed out.
5. Use the blue “Save Changes” button to finalize any updates. 
6. Use the red “Delete This Legend” button at the bottom of the side panel to delete this Color or Shape Legend completely
